Welcome to Kneading Hope Bakery

I started playing with sourdough about 2019. It all seemed so overwhelming and everyone seemed to have their way of doing things which often contradicted what someone else was doing. I thought I had killed my first starter, which I later learned that I had not.
I started again and produced a few hockey pucks that were mostly inedible. But I kept reading. I kept on trying and experimenting. I searched for a method that worked for me. I eventually started producing some pretty darn impressive loaves and they even tasted good. However, they were still inconsistent. So, I kept on studying and experimenting and learning from my successes and failures.
Flash forward to November 2023. I was laid off from my teaching position (I am an RN who taught Certified Nursing Assistant classes) but the facility where I taught asked if I would take a position as a grant RN, which I accepted. That position ended the end of 2024. I made a half hearted attempt looking for a new position, but my heart just wasn't in it anymore.
Meanwhile, I kept baking. My oldest grandson is my biggest fan. At one point, my daughter-in-law bought a store bought sourdough loaf. He had a slice, looked at his mom and said, "this isn't grandma's" and tossed it into the garbage. In January 2025, I took an online class and obtained my cottage lisence from the state.
As the word got around about my little bakery, I made the decision to expand and make it easier for people to order and now I have my web presence.
If you have gotten this far in my first blog, quite frankly, I'm amazed. I am not tech savvy and building this website has caused me to start ripping out my hair. Luckily, my wonderful, supportive husband, does his best to help me out by trying to figure out what I am trying to do and make it happen. He can also be found in the kitchen grating cheese, measuring ingredients and making sure I don't lose my mind! He also wisely tells me to stop, rest and rejuvinate.
So thank you for your support and thank you for ordering from my site. I hope you enjoy your order.
